FAQ
Have questions? We got you covered!
What is LaseMD Ultra? LaseMD™ Ultra is a non-ablative, fractionated laser treatment designed to improve skin texture, tone, and radiance. It targets concerns like pigmentation, fine lines, sun damage, and uneven skin without removing the outer layer of skin. Safe for all skin types, LaseMD Ultra delivers powerful results with a gentle touch.
Can LaseMD™ Ultra treat melasma? Yes, LaseMD™ Ultra treatment helps break up melanin clusters and improves skin health by stimulating collagen and skin turnover, which leads to a more even tone over time.
What is the difference between LaseMD™ Ultra & Lumecca IPL? While both target pigmentation and improve skin tone, LaseMD Ultra uses a laser, not broad-spectrum light like Lumecca IPL. LaseMD creates microchannels in the skin to stimulate collagen and renewal from within, making it ideal for texture, fine lines, and deeper skin rejuvenation. IPL treats discoloration more superficially, while LaseMD works below the surface for total skin regeneration. LaseMD is capable of treating melasma, while IPL is not.
Is LaseMD™ Ultra safe for all skin types? Yes! LaseMD™ Ultra’s non-ablative laser is safe for a wide range of skin tones, including darker and more sensitive skin types that may not be ideal candidates for IPL.
What does LaseMD™ Ultra feel like? Most patients experience a mild warming or prickling sensation during treatment, a sparkle of heat across the skin. A numbing cream is often applied beforehand to enhance comfort.
What can I expect after LaseMD™ Ultra treatment? You may have some redness and a slight sandpaper-like texture for a few days. These are normal signs of skin renewal and typically resolve within 3–5 days.
When will I see results from LaseMD™ Ultra? Many patients notice an initial glow within 5–7 days, with continued improvement over several weeks as collagen builds. Best results are typically seen after a series of treatments.
How many sessions of LaseMD™ Ultra do I need? A series of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is commonly recommended, depending on your skin goals. Maintenance treatments can help preserve your results.
Who is an ideal candidate for LaseMD™ Ultra? An ideal candidate for LaseMD™ Ultra is someone looking to improve skin tone, texture, and radiance with minimal downtime. It’s perfect for treating fine lines, sun damage, melasma, enlarged pores, and rough texture—and it's safe for all skin types and tones. Whether you're addressing early signs of aging or simply want to boost overall skin health, LaseMD Ultra offers a gentle yet powerful solution for both rejuvenation and prevention.
How do I know if this is the right treatment for me? LaseMD™ Ultra may not be suitable for individuals who: Have active skin infections, open wounds, or cold sores in the treatment area Are currently taking photosensitizing medications (like Accutane or certain antibiotics) Have a history of keloid scarring or poor wound healing Are pregnant or breastfeeding (as a precaution) Have uncontrolled skin conditions such as severe eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis Are extremely sensitive to heat or light-based treatments LaseMD™ Ultra may not be suitable for everyone. Individual results may vary. Please consult with a licensed medical professional to determine if this treatment is right for you.
What should I know BEFORE my LaseMD™ Ultra appointment? Avoid Sun Exposure Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning (including self-tanners) for at least 1 week before treatment. Discontinue Retinoids & Exfoliants Stop using retinol, tretinoin, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or other strong exfoliants 3–5 days before your appointment. No Recent Procedures Avoid chemical peels, microneedling, or other laser treatments on the area for at least 2 weeks prior. Pause Certain Medications Let your provider know if you’re taking any medications that cause photosensitivity (e.g., Accutane, doxycycline), as these may need to be stopped ahead of time. Hydrate Your Skin Keep your skin well-moisturized and drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment. No Active Breakouts or Infections Reschedule your appointment if you have any active cold sores, open wounds, or skin infections in the treatment area.
What should I know AFTER my LaseMD™ Ultra appointment? Expect Mild Redness & Texture Redness, warmth, and a sandpaper-like texture are normal and may last 2–5 days. This is part of the skin’s natural renewal process. Avoid Heat & Sweating For 24–48 hours, avoid hot showers, saunas, intense workouts, and anything that causes excessive sweating. Do Not Pick or Scrub Let any roughness or dryness flake off naturally. Avoid exfoliating, picking, or rubbing the skin. Use Gentle Skincare Stick to non-irritating, hydrating products (e.g., gentle cleanser, fragrance-free moisturizer). Avoid active ingredients like retinol, AHAs/BHAs, or vitamin C for 3–5 days. Apply Sunscreen Daily Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every day, even indoors. Sun protection is crucial during the healing phase. Stay Hydrated Drink plenty of water and keep the skin moisturized to support optimal healing and results. Makeup (Optional) You can wear makeup the day after treatment if the skin is not irritated, but lighter, mineral-based options are best. If you experience prolonged redness, irritation, or signs of infection, contact your provider immediately.
